 Welcome!

Hi there!  My name is Lora Largo, Faculty Librarian.  This guide is designed for you, as a South Mountain Community Library college student, first, to make an appointment with me.  Second, to help you get started with your research assignment.  Third, show and teach you what types of research tools to use, search strategies, cite sources, and evaluate sources related to your research.

How Do I Use This Guide?  Read the content and links on this page. Use the guide navigation bars located on the left side to open pages in this guide.

It is best to view this guide in Google Chrome. Make sure your pop-up blocker is turned off when viewing  Article Databases A-Z list, Subject Guides, One Search, the library catalog, and e-books.  Phoenix Public Library resources are best viewed in IE.

Do I Need to Prepare for My Research Appointment?

Yes.  You will save both your time and my time if you prepare your questions before our on-one-one session. You may even rehearse them. Please feel free to use the Make Research Appointment Worksheet or you may describe your research assignment by using the So, What? Three-Step Rubric.
